Good supervisor

Although the nature of work may be different, good supervisors all have common characteristics. A good supervisor must treat her subordinates equally. She will not treat any subordinate better or worse than others. On the contrary, a poor supervisor will have favorite subordinates. Sometimes, she will use them to keep an eye on others. She expects them to tell her that other employees are talking about her. Such a behavior has led to ill feeling among employees apparently

A good supervisor must give clear and easy-to-understand instructions. She will not often change her mind about what she wants her subordinates to do. She does not lose her temper with confused subordinates who want her to explain the instruction again or in more detail. A good assignment of responsibility is on of the qualities supervisor.

She knows how to make use of the skills of each subordinate to the maximum benefits. Meanwhile, an incompetent supervisor insists on doing everything by herself. She is not willing to delegate responsibilities to others.

A good supervisor will evaluate the performance of her subordinates based on reasonable standards, not from personal feeling toward the employees. She will tell her subordinate about what those standards are so that they will equally reach them. She will give both compliments and criticisms straightforwardly. She also gives advice when it is necessary. A poor supervisor, however, will criticize without giving advice or ways of improvement.

Most importantly, a good supervisors will set standards for her subordinates responsibilities from her behavior. She words hard and takes care of the subordinates as valuable assets of the company. This boosts up moral among the employees which will definitely benefit her business.
